Horsemanship Classes.
Here at Canaans Gate our philosophy is that riding should be fun and safe. We offer our customers and students the years of experience we have had in the horse industry to ensure your success in building a relationship with your horse and enjoy a safe and rewarding trail riding experience.
We offer western trail riding horsemanship classes for the beginner and for those who just need a refreshing. We feel that the best learning experience for our students is to make sure you are comfortable in your environment and your instructor. Our goal is build our students into a fully confident rider and have the information you need to own and take care of your horse.
We know you have many stables to choose from that offer lessons ..... so what makes us different?....
Because here at Canaans Gate you learn total horsemanship and western trail riding in a non-intimidating environment.
We understand how it can be a little intimidating and scary for the first time out or maybe it has just been a few years since you have been on a horse and you don't necessarily want everyone gawking at you or maybe you don't really need the Olympic German medalist with enough certifications and titles behind his name to make your head spin, You just want to ride a horse !! and we get that!!
We remember what is like just starting out and this is why we focus on the student and in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. We teach you the tools you need to go out and enjoy your horse AND your ride. Many stables offer students the ultra- certified instructor and riding lessons in English tack learning hunter Jump, dressage, Showing etc. Which is fine,..... if that is your desire and goal and there are many great stables out there that can offer you this , but most people just want to enjoy their horse outside of eventing and just get out and trail ride with family and friends.
We have found that there have been alot of complaints over the years with people who had riding lessons and didn't learn anything about their horse or how to ride outside the ring, this is we decided to offer lessons that are centered toward western trail riding and the information and tools you need "out there" when an instructor isn't around. Horse riding is an exciting sport and hobby that can truly bring years of enjoyment and excitement to your life as long as you have been given the proper tools.
We offer beautiful mountain setting with views, wooded trails with Deer, wild birds , turkeys are often spotted on our trails and a few farm dogs may coma along and enjoy the ride , also. The Rolling hills and creek crossings on our trails assist our students in finding their balance naturally and a real experience to what you may encounter "out there" Students also learn to control the horse quickly to avoid bumping their knees on trees and falling behind if the horse decides to stop and graze. Instructors are always close by and available to lend assistance and ensure a safe ride.

Riding Lessons builds confidence, enhances a solid foundation, improves your technique, and are lots of fun!
We offer lessons to children ages 7 and up as well as adults of all ages.
Lessons are done by Private Instruction
We will accommodate family lessons and small groups of up to 3 if students are more comfortable with loved ones or friends.
Lessons are scheduled at 1hour time slots on Saturdays
other days are available on a case by case basis.
For those who may live a little further away
we offer half and full day instruction at our workshop price.
Horses are always provided
but..... we always encourage students
that if the already own a horse, it is best to learn on your horse. Boarding is available if transporting your horse back and forth is not an option
